The Problem
Too many Torontonians are being priced out of the city they built. First-time buyers face an impossible choice between an overpriced home and leaving the city entirely. Families can't find housing that fits their needs or budget — and seniors can't afford to downsize even when they want to.
The Solution
As your next city councillor, I will make Toronto a place where the city is playing an active role in creating more affordable places to live, building more non-market housing solutions, and making our communities vibrant and diverse.

How I Plan to Get There
I am committed to working with community stakeholders, and grassroots organizers working every day to make Toronto a place where everyone can comfortably afford to live.
Create new co-op housing and invest in community land trusts
Double the funding for the Multi-Unit Residential Acquisition (MURA) program to help co-ops and non profits
Create a long-term program so that community groups can better plan for future acquisitions.
Make city land available for deeply affordable, rent-geared to income homes
Improve the quality of new rental buildings and invest in Toronto Community Housing to solve major repair and maintenance problems
Create and enforce design standards to build high quality, liveable, and durable apartments starting with city-led projects
Invest more in Toronto Community Housing to solve major repair and maintenance problems
Demand more affordable housing in local development proposals based on needs assessments
Advocate for larger, family-sized units in new buildings
Build missing middle and encourage gentle density
Help seniors age in place with more accessible housing options and long-term care homes
Transform city planning processes to enable this type of development
